ABOUT THE ISLE OF ARRAN

‘Scotland in Miniature’ is an apt description of the Clyde isle of Arran with its magnificent jagged Highland scenery in the north and its fertile, rolling Lowland hills and glens in the south.

Circling the island, the coastal road encounters a variety of breathtaking scenery and spectacular views to the surrounding coasts and hills.

The spiritual beauty of Holy Island in Lamlash Bay has drawn centuries of holy men, from early Christian saints to today’s Tibetan Buddhists, while generations of holidaying Scots have escaped from stifling urban areas to breathe in the relaxing freshness of Arran to explore its intriguing history of Vikings, stone circles and Robert the Bruce.

Car ferries from Ardrossan and Claonaig carry visitors to the island to be greeted by the friendly folk and abundant facilities, including Brodick Castle and many golf courses.

There is plenty of choice in accommodation, ranging from homely self catering cottages to good quality hotels.
